How to calm a busy mind

calm a busy mind

A busy mind can be annoying.

I know from personal experience!
Here are a few things that I have found to calm a busy mind:

  1. Just stop whatever it is that I may be doing physically. Stop that activity and take a few deep breaths. Then take a few breaths while coaxing my mind to follow my breath. Getting my mind onto my breath may take a little persistence, but once it is there, ah, peace!
  2. Sometimes I’m just sitting here with a head full of spinning thoughts, so I get up and move. I take a little walk or I play with some gentle stretching – or both! Either way, moving the body gets the energy flowing in all directions, which helps disperse the “ball of spin” up there in my head.
  3. Write out those spinning thoughts on paper. There is no editing or filtering – I just let it spill out onto the page (or the computer). This process often brings something to light that I have been missing. It also feels like taking the cork off of a pressure cooker. By just writing it out, the pressure reduces and the mind settles.

Wishing you a peaceful and happy mind!

I liked this short post on calming an over active mind….BREATHING helps me every time…but I forget to do it!! (Or I’m just really lazy?) Iam 62, and I just learned how to turn on and use a computer last Spring!! Never used one til then!! So, I only do email and Facebook…The square up there for filling in a “WEBSITE” has me bewildered! I don’t have one unless its the Facebook post.
