Searching for Gold, Part 2

searching for gold

Searching for Gold

A few years ago I wrote about going inward, to search for my” inner gold” (see, Digging for Gold). I went full fledged into this search for something “golden,” “good,” “divine,” “eternal.” I was seeking, striving, studying, reading, taking classes, doing exercises, finding methodologies, and having long talks with wise people.

Below are a few of my personal discoveries:

The searching diverts me from that which I seek.
The inner and outer are the same, and different.
New York is different from London, yet they are located on the same Earth. The ocean is different from the land, yet they are located on the same Earth.
My insides looks nothing like my outsides, yet they are located on the same person.
Separation is easy, unity is hard.

That which enlivens is the same in all life – bugs, plants, toads, humans.
The “gold” within me is the same as the “gold” within you. It expresses itself differently. The same way that a seed planted in rich soil grows into a plant looks very different from the same seed planted in the crack of a sidewalk.
You cannot give me your “gold,” and I cannot give you mine.
My good fortune is that somehow I came to know, and then believe, in the existence of something within myself that is greater than this personality, than this particular lifetime. This Spark of the Greater Mystery that enlivens all life within me, all of the time, never wandering or hiding, always available. The “spiritual path,” however, is that I synchronize, unify, and harmonize with this Spark of the Greater Mystery that is the true seed of what I call “me.” It is the “inner gold” that I have been seeking all of my life.

FlareWishing you the bounty of all that lies within you.

I had the same response as Bernadette, (which means I must be doing something right)– “Yes!”

      Dear Amy,
You have been “something right” for as long as I have known you, and that’s a long time!

    Cindy,
Your written reflections are so succinct, authentic and true that is hard to know how to say anything else but “yes’.
