The Flower of the Heart

the tongue is the flower of the heartThe tongue is the flower of the Heart.

From the Chinese medical perspective, every organ has an associated sense organ. The sense organ associated with the Heart is the tongue. That is why it is said that “The tongue is the flower of the Heart.”
Across many cultures and traditions, we hear about the value of speaking our truth, speaking from the heart, and keeping our word. This cross-cultural observation reminds me of the possibility that somewhere, beneath all of our differences, is a common “fabric” or “reality” of connection and understanding.
Summer is the season of the Heart. Now is the perfect time to slow down, go inward, and reflect on how we are communicating.
