Welcome

welcome matWhat is the focus here?

Please, don’t ask for focus, my mind meanders. Wandering is the best part of a conversation. So, since the “social web” is all about the “conversation” these days, let’s wander together. The explorations in prolonged conversation can bring us all to a deeper and broader place that satisfies a psyche yearning for meaning, understanding, a sense of purpose. These types of encounters require time, space, pauses, and coffee. So, each entry will be only a part of the bigger conversation which unfolds over time – going places we never imagined at the beginning.
I’ve been thinking for a long time. A very long time. Thinking is perhaps my greatest skill. Communicating is a different story altogether. So, many thoughts – floating in and out, entertaining me, chasing me down in the middle of the night, nagging me on a walk, or inspiring me while having breakfast with a friend. I remember thinking how great it would be to have an instant outlet for it all, as I banged away on an old, manual typewriter in a little sweaty apartment in Ithaca in my twenty’s.
Twenty years later a blog arrives. I can almost keep up with it all now as I my fingers fly across my keyboard. All I need now is an audience. Thoughts written or spoken wander out there restlessly until they are received.  I’m hoping for a nod now and then from you, an “uh huh,” a shrug of the shoulders, or an appeal for clarification. Join me for the long talk, full of tangents and surprises, big questions, laughter and sighs, pictures, videos, good stories and the brilliance of the big thinkers I know.
