When Plants Talk, I Listen

Lush Garden

My Florida garden

I seek communion with the original spark of myself, the force of me that is also the force of you. I wonder what animates and lights this world, a life, a human or a plant? To open the door of this connection to our common origin, I listen to the messages of flowers.
All of life communicates, to receive the message is a choice. I listen to plants by attending to what changes in me as I wander among them. Contrast can make a message obvious.
A walk away from a busy street onto a leafy path into the woods, the message of peace and quiet is loud and clear. A hardwood forest offers a different experience than a pine forest. A sage bush in the desert feels entirely different from the grapefruit tree, full of fruit, outside of my window in Florida.
Just as I knew which parent to ask for the car keys, I know which plant to call on when I want to transform a certain mood.
Plants stay where they are, so the best way to bring their comfort with me is by carrying along a handy bottle of their essence. A flower essence holds the particular character of that plant – by taking a drop under my tongue, I commune directly with the message of the plant.
A flower essence speaks to my essence. If I am sensitive enough to feel that connection, then I have obviously been led into harmony with that which animates us all. And that feels great!
